Marketing Intern – Robot Framework Foundation

About the role

Robot Framework Foundation (Robot Framework ry) is looking for a marketing intern to help build and run the Foundation's marketing operations. That means creating and publishing content on a steady cadence, and putting real tracking behind it for the first time.

Robot Framework is a widely used, open-source test automation framework, with hundreds of thousands of users internationally; the Foundation supports its development and community. More about the Foundation: robotframework.org/foundation

The role runs as a practicum placement with Haaga-Helia, with Miikka Solmela (Executive Director) as your day-to-day supervisor.

It's a hands-on, largely self-directed role: you'll be given a clear system to work from, with real ownership over how the Foundation's content reaches an international technical audience.

Update, October 2026: We have extended the application period to the end of December 2026, as we haven't yet found the right candidate and want to keep the position open. In the meantime, some parts of the project are already being started in October. Depending on when a suitable candidate is found, the project scope may be adjusted or re-scoped together with them, and some of the tasks described below may already be underway. To be upfront: there is now more uncertainty about exactly what the work will look like than when this ad was first published. What hasn't changed is that we're looking for someone to run the Foundation's marketing, or help us run it. We especially welcome candidates with a strong interest in making a difference, even if the final scope ends up somewhat different from what's described here.

What you'll work on

  • Building and running marketing ops: set up and run the day-to-day content workflow, including video editing, making shorts, creating social media material, and publishing posts.
  • Ongoing content: keep a steady posting cadence going, packaging new content as it comes up (streams going live, tickets opening, new blog posts, and similar).
  • Day-to-day marketing: help out with the Foundation's everyday marketing activities as they come up, such as social posts, announcements, and other small tasks.
  • Tracking: roll out consistent tagged links and Plausible tracking across all of the Foundation's marketing content, and put together simple, regular read-outs of what the numbers show.
  • Light-touch planning: keep a shared list of upcoming anchors (dates worth building content around) and use it, together with an evergreen backlog, to know what to work on week to week.
  • Tool set-up: help finalize the choice of scheduling/publishing tool from a short existing shortlist.

What we're looking for

  • Professional-level English (written and spoken). This is a firm requirement, since the role involves writing and publishing content in English. Finnish is not required.
  • A genuine interest in content creation, tracking, and building systematic, data-informed ways of doing marketing, or a strong interest in learning these. Hands-on experience in any of these areas is a plus, but not required.
  • Some existing sense for what makes a good clip or visual, a "good eye." We don't provide formal video-editing training ourselves, though AI-assisted tools can be made available to help with production, which we'd recommend.
  • Comfortable working independently, with light day-to-day supervision.
  • Openness to an evolving scope: a strong interest in making a difference matters more to us than matching the exact task list, which may change depending on when you start.
  • A reliable computer and internet connection of your own is a plus.

Practical details

Duration & hours: At least 18.75 hours per week (50%), up to 37.5 hours per week (full-time), depending on your preference. The engagement covers 2.5 months' worth of work, so the number of calendar weeks depends on the weekly hours you choose.

Location: Mostly remote. The first two days can be arranged on-site at the Foundation's office in Helsinki (Kamppi). After that, there is typically an option to meet your supervisor face-to-face once a week at the Kamppi office.

Supervision & support: A 1–2 day induction at the start, followed by roughly 1–2 hours of dedicated supervisor time per week, built around a standing weekly sync (about 30 minutes). Slack, email, and calls are available for day-to-day questions.

Tools & setup: Work happens through Google Workspace and browser-based publishing and analytics tools. You'll get access to everything you need, and nothing needs to be installed locally. If needed, a computer can be arranged for the internship period, to be agreed separately.

Language: Professional-level English required.

Compensation: Phase 1 (2.5 months) is unpaid, run through the standard tripartite training agreement between Haaga-Helia, you, and the Foundation. If phase 1 goes well and a second period (phase 2) proceeds, phase 2 would be paid, approximately €1,500/month.

How to apply

Application window: 7 September – 31 December 2026 (extended from the original 30 September deadline). Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and a suitable candidate may be hired before the window closes.

Start date: by agreement, as soon as a suitable candidate is found, at the latest early 2027.
